The Challenge

Brisant Secure – a UK-based manufacturer of high-security door locks, smart home products and door furniture and accessories – delivers cutting-edge security solutions to both consumers and trade partners.

Known for providing high-performance hardware and innovative marketing solutions for their clients to leverage, the company prides itself on empowering customers – from locksmiths to large-scale door manufacturers.

But despite this innovation, Brisant’s proposal process hadn’t caught up.

“We have this fantastic tech, and showcase it beautifully on our website and in other materials. But our approach to proposals felt old fashioned.”

“We were just sending an email accompanied by a PDF with an Excel price book. It felt outdated and didn’t reflect who we are. We knew we could be doing something significantly more interesting,” said Alex Dutton, Sales Director at Brisant Secure.

The team was managing 70+ proposals a week but their proposals didn’t match the premium experience they deliver, feeling more like admin than a strategic sales moment.

The Solution:

Brisant Secure turned to Qwilr to close the gap between their product innovation and their sales experience.

They were quickly able to produce more innovative proposals with very little effort, and more accurately reflect the high standard of their products.

“Qwilr allows us to give customers something that feels fresh and exciting – while reducing the time we’re spending on proposals. We’ve always stood out as ahead of the rest of our industry, and Qwilr is perfectly in line with that.” Alex noted.

Alex and his team can now produce deal-winning proposals in a matter of minutes.

“There was one in particular that went outstandingly well. I was chatting to a prospect over the phone. Within two minutes of putting down the phone, I had sent a proposal off to him. Within two minutes of receiving it, I got notified that he had opened it. Within two minutes of that, I got a call back saying “Wow, that is really impressive – how did you do that?” and they are now a customer.”

And that’s not the only feedback the Brisant Secure team has received.

“From single sole trading locksmiths to large banking groups, we've had people that have used words like “awesome”, “wow”, “impressive”, and that sort of thing about a quote. We'd never ever had anybody ever go “Wow – that quote was so good!” before, because why would anybody if you’re just using a PDF?”

This has helped his team win business.“If you’ve got to choose between three or four companies offering similar things, you’re going to go with the one that has given you a standout experience”

Not only do their proposals look better, the team uses Qwilr’s proposal analytics to understand how their proposals are being received.

“Previously, you’d send an email with a quote on it and hope that it’s read. In the best case, they might show some other people, but you never really know. We relied on follow-up conversations to know how things were going.”

Now, Alex and his team have a much clearer view of how their proposals are being received.

“We can see that the click rate is really good – people are engaging with our proposals very quickly. And they’ll often repeatedly engage until they accept, tinkering with the pricing and the options that are on there.

Plus, knowing our customers like we do, we can see proposals being forwarded from various branches to head office, which helps give our sales team confidence that our proposals are actually moving forward.”

Qwilr also helped align with developments in how the Brisant Secure team sell.

“So much of what we do is on the value-add side, and providing genuine benefits to our customers, and it doesn’t make sense to engage with buyers who just want to see pricing – so we’ve been pushing back on these requests. Sending a Qwilr page that contains a quote alongside all the relevant context allows us to communicate our offering more effectively and sell when we’re not in the room.”

With Qwilr’s Pipedrive integration, proposals automatically pull accurate pricing and SKU data, improving forecasting.

“We would send a couple of different size options to our customer, and then have to forecast through the production team,” said Alex. “It was a separate step, and sometimes it slipped.”

Now, because Qwilr proposals pull directly from Pipedrive, reps are required to input accurate product information from the start.

“It completely removed that extra step. If you want your proposal to be accurate, you need to put that information into Pipedrive – so the data in there is always correct, and forecasting is instant.”

This workflow shift has made sales more efficient and forecasting more reliable – without adding extra admin.

“I've got a lot of love for salespeople but I’m conscious that we’re not all great at admin and data accuracy. So anything that makes this side of things easier is a big win.”
